About

Caucuses Flying Club was established in December 2024 and is planning on officially registering as an IVAO partnered VA in 2025. We have two primary goals:

  • Educate
  • Promote a friendly flying community

Our instructors provide flight training for pilots wishing to take the IVAO Private Pilot Exam. Using our own experience, our aim is to help students understand the international principles of VFR flight, as well as local regulation across the South Caucuses region (Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan), in order to best prepare them for the IVAO PP exam. At this time we do not offer training beyond PP. We are a private organisation working alongside but not directly affiliated with the XT Division. In addition to flight training, we also run the flying school as a club, and welcome pilots to join us as we explore the caucuses & beyond from the skies! Join us for group flights across the region.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is your purpose?

We have two primary goals: to provide independent flight training; and to create a friendly GA community in the South Caucasus region.

What do you mean by “independent” flight training?

We provide the highest standard of flight training to help members prepare for and pass IVAO Private Pilot exams. We achieve this through our team of instructors, all of which have passed at least one IVAO practical pilot exam, using material such the IVAO wiki, AIPs of respective countries, and aircraft manuals. We also provide type training on Diamond DA40 aircraft. We are an organisation independent of IVAO, and do not provide “official” IVAO pilot training.

Which ratings do you provide training for?

At this moment in time, we only provide independent training for the IVAO Private Pilot rating.

Which languages do you provide training in?

Training is provided in English. You will be assessed on your English competency in the PP exam.

Which Airports do you operate from?

Our bases are in Shirak Armenia (UDSG), Telavi Georgia (UGGT), and Ganja (UBBG)

Can I become a Flight Instructor?

Yes! You need your IVAO Private Pilot+, and to demonstrate good knowledge of GA activities in the Caucasus.

Will my Flight Instructor be my examiner for the exam?

No. Exams are provided solely by IVAO, not Caucasus Flying Club.

Which aircraft do you use?

For training, we use the Diamond DA40. As a member of our club you are welcome to use your own light aircraft! You may use your own aircraft for training, however we may then not be able to offer as much support.

Do you have a callsign?

At this time, we do not have a registered callsign, and use registrations instead.

I am not based in the XT region, can I still join your club/learn to fly here?

Of course, but be aware that we will teach you rules according to the three nations of the XT region. There may be differences in your home region, such as different airspace structure, phraseology, etc.

Which PIREP/Management system do you use?

Due to the nature of our operations being GA/flight training based, we do not currently utilise a PIREP/management system.
